How Meditation Helps to Reduce Blood Pressure
Heart disease is one of the leading killers of North Americans. With the combination of the Standard American Diet and a low priority for exercise, it isn’t any surprise that heart disease is easily one of the most dangerous things North Americans must worry about. In addition, the stresses of daily life are constantly plaguing the population. Everybody wants, and needs, to succeed. And the stress associated with such important tasks can cause blood pressure to rise. Sometimes stress can cause other issues associated with heart disease as well, such as stress-eating unhealthy foods that contribute to poor health.
Ultimately, however, meditation is a great way to help keep that type of stress in check. Rather than allowing the negative cycles to persist, meditation can provide a way for us to unplug from the world around us and refocus our minds on things that are not as overwhelming. When we engage in stress-relieving activities, our brains respond very physically. Chemicals such as nitric oxide are released, and it is found to be helpful in reducing blood pressure.

Couples Enrich Your Relationships & Marriages
No partner gets into a relationship looking to be separated. No spouse gets married looking for a divorce. Why do, these outcomes happen, one may ask? Of course, there are a number of reasons why couples do not stay in relationships. Even fewer are successful in their marriages.
In my humble assessment, there are four pillars or tips that couples can use to sustain their relationship and live an enriched married life.
1 Spend Quality time. Do things together. Be it being in the same room, or doing common outdoor activities. Spending time together creates a bond and friendship. If you remember, your relationship was built on the foundation of companionship. This is what all “good dates” start of achieving. Continue to organise “date nights” all through your marriage.

Finding Balance in Your New Workplace, Home Sweet Home
Within a month of COVID-19 taking a hold within North American borders, Forbes published Three Warning Signs That Your Remote Employees Are Starting To Crack Under The Stress Of Working From Home. Now, the question remains as to whether or not this article was a reflection upon what was occurring to date, or a heads up for the wave of the increased workers who quickly were forced to create home offices.
Well, the writer of this article, her friends and her clients, all from various professions, almost immediately discovered the following stressors: Grocery delivery orders arriving too early, and in the middle of appointments. Extra time needed to set-up virtual meetings. Kids and pets, though cute, demanding attention all day and at the most interesting moments. Email exchanges having seemingly to go way past the typical workday schedule. Workspaces being either too dark or too light, and uncomfortable. Not one of these stressors politely immerged slowly. In fact, they all felt as if they descended at the same time.

Racism – Starting The Conversation With Your Kids
Racism happens every day. You can choose to ignore it or you can choose to open your eyes and walk through the discomfort on the journey to healing, peace and unity. Chances are the eyes of your child are open. They are looking to their parents as well as others for meaning and understanding.

Parent Training for ADHD and Challenging Behaviour in Children and Adolescents
ADHD and challenging behaviours in children and adolescents are common concerns that drive families to seek psychotherapy. There are various approaches to treat these issues, one that has proven to be effective by improving child’s behaviour, self-image and self-regulation is Behavioural Therapy.
Some parent training approaches are: Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Parent Management Training (PMT), Positive Parenting Program (Triple P), they each focus in different aspects and attempt to improve the behaviour and the life of the child and family involved.

Pruning and Endings
Bringing out the best in flowers, especially roses, requires the painful practice of pruning. Pruning is the act of cutting back. It is the proactive decision to limit growth. It is the aggressive severing of branches, blooms and beauty for the health of the whole. It is about ending something to allow something new to blossom in greater beauty. It is accepting the present pain for the betterment in the future.
While we sit in our houses confined to social distancing many of us are frozen in fear and panic, confused about how the greatest intellectuals, the most powerful, the wealthiest could not have planned for such a time as this.

The Advantages Of Therapy With Video Calls
Like many professions during this pandemic, marriage and individual therapy has had to adapt in order to continue. Fortunately, it’s easier to adapt this kind of therapy than something like massage therapy: “Now leaning against the corner of the kitchen counter, press against it slowly moving up while rolling down the bottle of ketchup.”
That’s probably not how you massage yourself, but everything is better with ketchup (there’s a 30% chance that’s not true). As many marriage and individual therapists are finding, technology is a wonderful gift during times like these for allowing our practices to continue as we help people navigate through the typical household struggles, which are all the more apparent in isolation.

THRIVING THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS
If the now upon us holiday season doesn’t have you jumping for joy … you’re not alone. Here are some tips & tricks to manage the holidays on your terms. Take some of that power back and power through with self love and compassion.
🎄 Don’t go into debt trying to show people how much you love them.
🎄 Don’t go visit your family if it compromises your mental health.
🎄 You don’t have to attend any events that might trigger you.
🎄 Just because you’ve always done it that way (tradition) doesn’t mean you have to do it that way (new traditions).
🎄 It’s ok to not be ok.
