Extrinsic motives such as money, fame, success, awards, or praise from others are a quick way to motivate athletes but an equally short-term and inconsistent way that can have unwanted side effects.

Goals are extremely powerful motivators and drivers of individual behavior. A psychologist can help an athlete set goals correctly by following certain rules. Goal setting rules require thinking about how specific, measurable, achievable, personally important, and timed the goal is. With this kind of support and system, an athlete can achieve an enviable level of motivation with a sense of satisfaction with what has been achieved.

Setting and defining our own values ​​leads to sure success because in this way we define what we essentially are. Giving up our own values ​​means giving up on ourselves, and we rarely do that. In this way, our goals become our personal mission and a great source of motivation.
